Reemtsma is part of the fourth largest cigarette company in the world, Imperial Tobacco Group PLC, and is well-known for its West, Davidoff and R1 brands.

The company has 11,000 employees worldwide in more than 20 subsidiaries and associated companies. Approximately two thrids of the employees work outside of Germany. This makes close collaboration across all locations crucial for effective international marketing.

At the beginning of 2000, Reemtsma chose INFO AG to design and develop a portal. The aim: a central information and communication platform for all marketing employees and agencies.

The Marketing portal
With its "Brand-Info.Net" Reemtsma is now able to provide its 350 Marketing employesss worldwide as well as 40 agencies in 23 countries with information centrally and quickly. International advertising motives can now be published and ordered online, and international advertising campaigns can be planned and monitored using the portal. The sophisticated role and rights management system only allows users to access the information for which they have the corresponding rights. Conferences can now also take place online.

The homepage is the starting point for research. It displays an overview of the information and functions provided by the portal: in addition to live news tickers, weather information, specialist articles, service and help functions there is also a full text seach engine as well as a list of links to Marketing tools, guidelines and manuals. The flexible layout enables every brand to use their individual corporate design.


Advertising
The latest cinema trailers as well as international advertising motives are located in the media pool. The pool provides comprehensive information, motive options and downloads for first layout drafts. The motives are ordered using the forms online. The agencies have editorial access to the advertising motives and are responsible for updating the pool. This means that a German advertising motive can be placed online on the day of its publication ready for other countries to adapt it to meet their individual needs. Online conference rooms and interactive member lists allow virtual teams to work simply and effectively with one another.

Legal regulations
Every country has different advertising regulations. An up-to-date database facilitates a clear overview of all legal regualtions which can be sorted according to country, advertising channels and years.


Expert search
When carrying out their tasks, it is important for colleagues to know who the contact persons are for specific areas. Brand-Info.Net provides a time-saving solution: every user can specify in which areas their expertise lies. A catalogue displays all areas of expertise and the respective number of registered experts. This enables users to contact spezialst colleagues quickly and easily.


Web-based training:
An interactive and animated tour provides first-time users with an insight to the portal’s functions. Complicated tools are described step by step online providing users with a cost-effective training.

ATL/BTL monitoring
A central module, the "Brand Communication Exchange", enables global marketing activities to be created locally but monitored and analysed centrally. Using an approval workflow, activities can be authorised at short notice. The information is entered by the marketing employees located in the individual countries. Highly successful activities are presented as "Best Practice Cases". By placing all of this information online, Reemtsma allows its staff to benefit from the vast range of experience collected by employees worldwide. With the "Brand-Info.Net" portal, Reemtsma maximises the return of knowledge with its spohisticated internal knowledge base. In just six months we implemented a tool that optimally supports all marketing activities.
